Captain Ken Hart, his dog, Pierce, with his boat the Island Belle, which will start ferrying between Northport Long Island and South Norwalk this summer along with charter avalability for special events.

Manned by a seven-member crew, the Island Belle hopes to play host to around 100 events and functions this summer, Hart said. As business picks up, Hart would like to bring free educational events and fundraisers on-board.

"We want to bring in large parties so we can offer things like fundraisers and educational events for free to the community," Hart said. "Typically these fundraisers take place in a ballroom or a hotel lobby, but why not bring then on the water?"

Having spent 48 years in Fairfield County, Hart understands the value of giving back to the community.

"I am putting together a business model that focuses on the community," Hart said. "It's about attracting people to Norwalk and helping local businesses. I encourage businesses to contact me and figure out how we can work together."

The massive Island Belle will be the vehicle Hart will use to make his mark on the community.

"When you get her (the Island Belle's) night lights on she is spectacular," Hart said. "It is an amazing place to bring the spirit of giving."
